Update! All things Beautifully Broken

Happy Monday everyone! I’m sorry I missed the last blog post. Time got a little lost, as it has been all of lock down. I’m pleased to know I’ll be going back to work a week today, it’s going to take some getting used to but I’m excited.

So, lets jump into this blog! (All about my poetry collection, Beautifully Broken) On Wednesday July 1st I am sending my poems to my editor. That’s right, I’ve finished writing poems (for now) there are 91 going off.

I can’t quite get my head around it all yet, although I’ve had work published before and I was part of an incredible project, but there’s something different about this one. It’s a process that has felt quite lonely, long and some days I was ready to throw it all away. However, in the end it’s all worth it. The poems are from my own life experiences, but the book is written to help other people. I hope to inspire people, help people and most importantly let them know they’re not alone! The collection covers topics such as, depression, domestic violence, the highs and lows of life and falling in love.

The title Beautifully Broken I think sums it up well because, there are lots of things in life that can destroy us, tear us apart and break our hearts, but it doesn’t mean permanently damaged. There is beauty in the process of falling apart and finding the strength and courage to carry on, even when you’re at rock bottom.

So, what’s next you ask? I’ll work along-side my editor to polish it up and to make sure there are none of my, far too common typos! Then once I’m happy I’ll be moving onto the next stage of getting the book formatted, ordering my proof copy and then finally in October, publishing.

But I need your help. I’m not sure exactly when this will be, but I will be looking for some BETA readers, to read my collection and leave me an early review. In return you will receive a signed copy from me. There’s no specific kind of feedback I’ll be after at this point, just your thoughts and feeling on the collection. I’m self-publishing this collection so every review will mean the world to me and massively help me with getting it out in the big wild world.

If this is something you would be interested in don’t then please get in touch! You can contact me via my email or social medias which you can find on my Contact Me page.

So that’s it for the update to wrap up June. I hope you all have a wonderful day and that many of you are starting to return to some kind of normality! I will speak to you in my next blog
