Spoken word event – dear listener at Boston Tea Party

Thursday 23rd may I attended my first ever spoken word event. If someone would have told me three months ago when I began my writing workshop that I would have had one of my poems on display and performed my actual poems to actual people I would have thought that what a crazy idea. I’m so glad I attended the evening and shared some of my work. I met some lovely people and really enjoyed hearing other people’s work and as hard as it is to make me cry one poem read out by another poet definitely succeeded. I want to say a massive thank you to Holly who has helped me achieve so much in such a short time with my poetry and with my other writing project and to my aunties for attending the evening tonight, and also to Charlie who created these evenings and to everyone else there who were all so welcoming and came up to me afterwards and told me that no one would have guessed it was my first time. I certainly look forward to doing more❤️

Survey – raising awareness for domestic abuse

I have put together a few questions to find out if people would benefit from a book designed to help those in or recovering or knows someone in or who has been in a domestic violent relationship. This is a sensitive subject but it is important as not only does it effect physical well-being it also has a massive impact on mental health, not just during but also those recovering. I would greatly appreciate if you could take just 2 minutes to answer my 5 questions and please don’t forget to share as far as you can. I will be leaving the survey open for two weeks to allow enough people to respond. This will my anonymous so don’t worry and my results are purely for my research purpose to find out what people want to expect from this book. Anything else feel free to reach out via email or my social media pages.

Frames of mind – Mental Health Awareness Week, Swindon

To mark Mental Health Awareness week i submitted a poem to be chosen to go on display… and it was!

Mental health has been a massive part of my life in the last three years and my experiences have completely changed who i am today, thankfully for the better.

When i received the email to say my poem had been accepted i was so excited, only writing poetry for a short time I never expected to be chosen but was over the moon that i could share my work and connect with others. My poem was 1 of 20 to go on display and out of 40 entrants i was honoured that my work was picked.

I went to see the display on the 15th of May in Swindon at Baristocats cafe and met Scott and Sue who are two of the people behind the campaign and organised the display. I had a lovely time chatting with them and learning more about what they are doing and listening to their stories.

The work Scott is doing is incredible and I’m proud to be a part of this week. Monday also marked the launch of a new men’s mental health campaign which i will link that below for you to head over and read about.
